If you're reading this, chances are you're in the same position I was a few months ago: desperately relying on SparkNotes to understand anything I was reading.

While AP Lang doesn't have a setlist of books to be taught for the year, the chances are very high that you'll run into The Scarlet Letter or something very similar. The tremendous details classic authors like Hawthorne included made their novels works of art. However, it also makes it almost impossible to understand as a student in the 21st century.

There's only one single tip (YES ONLY ONE 😆) you need to know when reading classic novels, and you'll be able to understand the plot and knock out any quiz or essay that comes your way! 🎉

When you're reading a sentence that has an endless amount of distracting details, either use a pencil/highlighter, or make a mental note, and point out the noun and verb.

By getting rid of the distractions, you'll easily be able to follow the plot and make any necessary annotations on your way to an A!

This will certainly help you in the classroom, check out this 👉 blog post and check out the whole collection of AP Lang and many more classes here to ensure you can get a  🖐️ on your AP exams this year!
